Here is my Year 2 showreel, composed of all the After Effects animations we created during the year.
Tha music I used is "OK" by Madeon.

Collide -- Final Piece
Here are both of my final pieces for the Collide brief. I wanted to focus on fictional Character Design and I think I got good results. I'm pleased with the out come and proud that my will work participate in the Collide Exhibition to be held on the 25th.

3D Typography -- Final Piece
Here is the final piece for the 3D Typography project. I stitched together two pieces of white felt for the background, and created also an animated gif.

Collide -- Developement
Here are some sketches in development for my final piece, which will be a set of 5 poster for my phisical piece and a "making of" video for the digital piece. I've decided to focus on three aspects of personal interest: my childhood obsession with animals, my desire to travel and my fascination for the Cyberpunk subculture.
The sketches are only headshots, as the phisyical pieces will have a small description of the subject.

YCN -- Final Piece
Due to unforseen circumstances, I didn't have time to go through with my orginal plan for a motion comic, so I decided to enter the competition with a set of 4 posters which, as mentioned, depict the emotions experienced at the opera. The emotions are Excitement, Mystery, Anguish and Passion andd all scenes are taken from moments that are present in differnt operas. All are hand drawn and then coloured and edited digitally.

Workshop -- Fary Tale
In this workshop, we created a small animation based around an old folk tale. The aim was to explain the entirety of the story in just a few seconds.
I chose the story of Rumpelstiltskin and the gold thread

Workshop -- Life Drawing
In this workshop, which I greatly enjoyed, we discussd and practiced life drawing with a live model. When I was attending my old art school, life drawing was an obligatory subject to attend, and one of my favourites over all. It was really nice to get back to it. In the worshop it's self we focused on poses with harsh prospective and curves, figure drawing and movement stage drawning.
For each piece we had a set time limit, which infulenced the sharpness of the final work, not giving me much time to add details. But overall, I think I got good results and I was really pleased to get involved in this workshop.
Due to the light colour of the pencil I used, it diffuclt to see the image and I attemted to scan them but they weren't visible enough.

Character Design and Animation -- Model Development
In this tutorial, we continued modelling our character.
Due to various disruptions during the lesson, we weren't able to progress very much, and I was only able to take one snapshot of our work. Hopefully we will be able to continue on our next session.

After Effects -- Camera, Lighting and 3D
In this tutorial we lerned how to properly use the 3D and Camera feature on After Effects. We were aked to create a simple image of a landscape whith each colour on a separate layer:
After editing it on Illustrator, we bagan th aniamtion process, which consited of making all the layers 2D objects in a 3D space, and creating a camera that would move from the "back" to the "front", revealing the complete image.
We aslo used the Page Turn tool, for one object in the scene, to give it a more rich look. Here is the result:
These were very easy-to-use features, and I will certainly be using them in my future work.

Typography -- 3D Type Development
After gartehring the materials necessary, I began work on the actual typeface.
I cut out each individual letter from the cardboard, each a different size.
And began wrappping the yarn and string around the cardboard letters, gleewing the extremities of the length of material on the back of the letter using a hot glue gun. After about 3 hours work I managed to create the word "Stitch". I will continue work soon.

Collide -- Initial Development Sketches
I'm struggling to think of a solid idea for a final piece. My plan will revolve mainly around Illustration and Character Design. One of gthe main objectives is to focus on a strong point, and I feel that my drawing is my strongest.
I did some further research, during which I recalled a personal project I was working on. In that project, I focus a lot on masks, one of my favourite objects. I started researching masks in different cultures and found that almost every country makes some form of animal masks, especially in Africa and India.
So I combined masks, animals and cyberpunk to created these sketches. I will probably manage to retrieve some ideas for a final piece in a few days.

Character Design and Animation -- Introduction to Modelling
In this Production tutorial, we were introduced to the practice of character modelling. Using Cinema 4D, we began a series of sessions in which we will model a character from scratch.
My initial intention was to use my own character, Nathan:

But it would prove to be a bit too complicated for modelling, so I decided to use Wayne, a character created by Jay:
After setting up the software, we finally began modelling, which is not as easy as I thought.

Collide -- Research
During this week, we were given our new brief, "Collide", in which we had to combine 3 main elemens: Happiness, our Future Selves and the Digital Age.
At first the brief was complicated to understand, I found the concept of combining three very abstract elements together to create a final outcome quite tedious.
I began my research by analysing all three aspects and created mind-mads to help in my idea generation process.

Thanks to a seminar, I got reminded about one of my favourite Sci-Fi sub-genres: Cyberpunk.
When I was in highschool, I was very passionate about the cyberpunk style, so I may be inclined to create a piece with that kind of feel to it.
Hopefully I will ba able to think of strong ideas during the development process.
(I will speak of Cyberpunk on my Contextual Portfolio)

Typography -- Initial Concepts
Due to illness, I was not able to attend the first workshop held by Nick, which involved the creation of a set of 3D objects that put into context, created a set of words. I was quick to catch up on the lesson in my own time, so I came up with a few concepts.
My initial thoughts where the word "Break" created with coffee grounds and "Spice" made out of cinnamon sticks and vanilla pods.
I finally decided on the words "Stitched up", created out of yarn, wool and cotton. My intention is to stitch some of the letters on a background created out of light coloured scap material stitched
together. Hopefully it will all come together very soon.
Here is the idea generation and some material tests:
I will start development work very soon.

Conversation -- Further Development
Due to personal issues, I was not able to continue on the conversation brief for a couple of weeks, but I quickly got back on track.
After listening to the recording I took of my peers answering the questions previously explained, I took key words and created a scene for each answer, using the male and female sprites I mad in my sketchbook as the characters.
*add image*
Each scene will be painted in white, to be revealed while the answer is being said.
Here are a few exhamples of the scenes.
